“Our 4th visit this year”

Westin Kierland Resort and Spa

This was our 4th trip this yr to the Westin. Last year we stayed at the Hyatt regency & two other 4+ star hotels. The Westin is by far much nicer & consistent in service & atmosphere. Rooms are impeccable & Service does not get much better..service at the front desk, room service, turn-down service, pool waitress service & especially "service esxpress". Ive ordered room service & had food at my door in as little as 15 minutes, no more than 25. Convenience with shuttle to Kierland Commons is a blessing. We,ve stayed at the Casita's which are poolside & at the Villa's which is 1/4 mile from main resort. Where ever you want to go on premeises (incl.Kirland commons) just call service express & they will have a complimentary shuttle awiting outside your door. One of the reasons we decided to try this resort is because we have a 2 1/2 yo girl & the zero entrance pool works out great. This is a very large pool, a water slide is a few steps away & so is the looong lazy river. Many other pools throughout the resort as well. If you play golf(I dont) this is supposedly a golfers paradise. Also this hotel host many convention groups which seems to work out great for the tourists since the convention people are always in session, having a private party somewhere & leaving the pools mostly to the vacationers. Recommended local restaurant: Maestros Ocean Club and The Grill at the Scottsdale Princess. On premises "Deseo" puts out some spectacular dishes with "Nellie Cashman" a great choice for breakfast or lunch. I could only think of one negative thing to mention about the Westin, & that would be that on more than one occassion at the front entrance, we had to wait 10-15 minutes for a a town car or taxi. Would like to mention two gentlemen at front desk that were outstanding..& that would be Lee and Brandon. feel free to write me if you have any aditional questions about the westin.

“Very Nice”

Westin Kierland Resort and Spa

Have stayed at Pheonician on previous trips to Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Decided to try the Westin Kierland for a change on a recent R&R trip.

Rooms are very small, bathrooms are on the small side as well. The place is trying to be a luxury hotel, but they miss the mark on a few things, such as the popcorn ceilings in the rooms and the 19 inch TV's sitting out on the desk. Little things, but ones that you notice if you are used to staying at higher end properties.

The pool area is very nice, though service is spotty at the pool. Very nice lazy river, but would prefer a more comfortable floater than the tubes they offer.

Just across the street from the Kierland Commons which makes for a fun evening of shopping and dinner. The stores are pretty much what you will find at any upscale shopping venue, but the setting is very nice.

The spa was okay, but extremely pricey. The shower drain was stopped up. The massage was good. Be careful because they quote prices that are mid-week, but if you are there on a weekend you find out the price is a good bit higher. Annoying when this is done. Just be up front with how much something is going to cost and don't bait & switch.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Had an 11th floor room overlooking the golf course. Great view.

I would definately stay here again, but would either stay on points or look for a rate well under $200 per might. Otherwise, I would return to the Phoenician for great rooms and great service.

“WOW - What a Place”

An adult Disneyland!

We loved the resort. We went in August and took advantage of a Westin deal where we ended up averaging $108 per night. We hand an incredible room with golf course views and a "smoker's balcony" - looking right out at the mountains.

Between the golf, the pools, and the shopping - we were like kids again. And we never even got to the spa - though we peeked in and now have that on the "to do" list.

Checking in and out was painless. Do not use the valet system - far too costly when you can self park for free. The bars and restaurants were pricey - but the food was good.

For an interesting dinner experience, walk accross the street to the Kierland shops and eat at the Tommy Bahama Cafe. Great food and you will swear you are in the islands (great Mojitos too!).

Rooms are standard Westin Fare. No surprises - but also nothing different.

The lazy river and pool are great. Lot's of kids - but adults can find their own little spot as well. Summer weekends boast live Caribbean music by the pool and outdoor movies by the pool at night.

Can't wait to go back - it was great!!!!

I have visited the Kierland for three years now, and it has gotten better each time. Although each year I attend a conferece in the heat of July, it is NOT as hot as it is thought to be. Phoenix has about 9% humidity and an average of about 103 degrees in the summer. Ask, when you reserve your room for a back, or mountain view with an unabstructed view. The pools are AMAZING, you must go on the lazy river and water slide. I have not been to the spa, but it seems quite relaxing. One of the best attributes of the hotel are the staff. EVERYONE, and I mean everyone is exceptionally nice. The Kierland Commons are also another luxurious addition with stores such as Coach, Sigrid Olsen, and Barnes and Noble. During the day the stores have nice cool misters. I have the best time in this resort, and I await my next trip next year!
