My husband and I have traveled and stayed at many a resort, but the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa was the best. We went there to celebrate new jobs and a new move coming up. We were treated like gold. The staff was very friendly and extremely accomodating. We arrived at the resort with only 5 minutes to make our golf lesson (I had never golfed before in my life and now I was going to do it in Scottsdale. Very nice!). The doorman took care of our bags and got us on a cart to get to the pro shop with a minute to spare.
The restaurants were very good particularly the Brittlebush Grill, Nellie Cashmans (which will also provide some entrees for room service - another great amenity) and Desero.
The spa was heaven. I have been to spas from NYC to N'awlins to Las Vegas. The Agave Spa was the best!! I recommend the Chai Tea Mud Mask. Wow!!
The pools were also well laid out. There is an adults-only pool that is very quiet. It's just a standard pool that is 3 feet on either side and 5 feet in the middle. Great for laps. There is also a jacuzzi. The "family" pool has a wonderful lazy river and a water slide. Lots of fun. You can also rent a cabana at either pool. The family pool can get a little noisy (OK..ALOT noisy), but it is good earlier in the day.
Since this is a golf resort, I must mention the courses. They are a 27 hole facility with detail to the course. I imagine that it is very difficult to manage courses in the desert, but Westin has succeeded. The offer great packages if you don't have clubs (like I did) and cleaned my husband's clubs when he was done with his rounds of golf. The cost for 18 before 4pm is $40 for resort guests, but only $24 after 4pm. The air conditioned golf carts were a god-send!!
All-in-all, we can't wait to get back to the Kierland and the wonderful time we had there. Suggestion: Get a room with a golf course view. There is something serene about a golf course.
