We arrived after a long journey and trundled our cases throuigh the stony car park, up some steps and into reception. After checking in it might have been nice to have a drink in the bar whilst our cases were taken to the room - no such luck. We had to roll the cases over more stones and carry them up more steps to our rather poky room. The bar turned out to be the outside restaurant area, and we were told we could only have one drink as dinner was about to be served! We were not even asked if we wanted to eat . That night we realised that the air conditioning unit was a fan under the window; if you opened the windows to let some air in the bugs came too, not to mention the traffic noise. The curtains did nothing to keep out the light, and the shower flooded the bathroom as there was no screen. The 2 night stay cost us more than 600 euros and really wasn't worth it. We didn't even have a very good view. The staff seemed to think they were doing us a favour - they were either rude or ignored us. Don't stay at this place and tell all your friends to avoid it too!

Villa Fiesole is very isolated. There is a bus stop outside that goes to
Fiesole village (a much better place to stay) and down to SMN rail station. That is the
only transport--no taxis. The road is narrow with no sidewalks and steep walls.
You cannot walk anywhere.
The restaurant is very nice, elegant and pricey, but there is one problem. The
owner's family uses the large center table as their family kitchen for every
meal. This includes a screaming two-year-old at dinner time. When I said
"Please!", the owner's wife turned to me, wagged her finger and started shouting
at me, driving us out of the restaurant. They charged us for the meal we didn't
eat. I don't expect this when I am paying over 100 Euro for dinner. Unless you
drive or take a bus, you have no alternative but to eat here.
The view from the rooms is excellent, the buffet breakfast is good and if you
drive and can escape the immediate area it is a good place to stay.

“Elegant & Affordable”

We booked a room for 3, for my wife, 11 year old daughter & myself for 5 days in March. They greeted us with an upgrade to adjoining rooms.
The location is amazing, 20 minutes outside of Florence, with an incredible view. There's a bus into town, so its convenient; its so much quieter than staying right in the city. I'm told its cooler in the summer & they have a pool, but we didn't get to experience that.
We're vegetarians & they accommodated us well & the staff were very helpful, especially Federico at the desk, who helped us with restaurants & ideas for touring in the countryside.
At less than 200 euros/night, the price was very good for excellent rooms.
And then there's Florence!

“Gorgeous respite, great value”

Villa Fiesole Hotel

My fiancee and I were traveling Tuscany in the off-season and making reservations as we went. We spotted the Hotel Villa Fiesole Trip Advisor reviews on our last night in Sienna, were encouraged by what we read, and then checked out Villa Fiesole's website. We booked a room for two nights at an excellent off-season rate. When we arrived the next day, they had already upgraded our room to a deluxe with charming patio (fabulous view of Florence, down the rolling hills from the hotel). We immediately changed our reservation to three nights (the longest we could extend our trip) and couldn't have been happier.

Though we had a rental car, we left it parked at the hotel for the next several days and just took the extremely convenient bus that stops on the road just below the hotel into Florence. The beds were dreamy, the towels were in generous supply (and on heated towel racks -- terrific for nippy January in Tuscany), the breakfasts were simple, lovely and filling, and the staff was absolutely first-rate. We are particularly indebted to the kind and enthusiastic Frederico who entertained us with stories of his time living in the states, and who recommended and then made dinner reservations for my fiancee's birthday at a terrific restaurant in Florence (Buca Lapi) where they treated us graciously, giving us the best table in the house, and an unhurried, spectacular meal. The restaurant -- clearly a popular favorite with well-heeled locals (many of whom were turned away over the course of the night since every table was taken) -- did not appear in any of our guidebooks and we wouldn't have found it, but for Frederico.

We paid B&B prices and had the kind of experience I would expect to pay royally for elsewhere. Villa Fiesole is quietly elegant, the rooms are beautifully appointed, the setting is evocative and achingly pretty, and the staff is warm, accommodating and extremely helpful.

We can't wait to return there. It was truly a memorable stay and I'm envious of those of you about to discover it . . . .

“The perfect hotel for a visit to Florence”

We were just in Florence for a stay of five nights and we stayed at the Villa Fiesole. We were a party of five, so one triple and two singles. We couldn't have been happier. The hotel is in a lovely location, with stunning views of the countryside around Florence and the rooftops of Florence. It is an easy bus ride to Fiesole (5 minutes) or to Florence (20 minutes). A 20 minute walk takes you to Maiano, where you can buy a bottle of award winning olive oil.
The hotel is clean, appears freshly painted, and is tastefully decorated. Our rooms were spotless, with excellent sheets and towels. As others have written, the breakfast is phenomenal: fresh, delicious pastries, excellent granolas, yogurts, cheeses, even hot eggs and ham.
The staff was charming and helpful, remembering where we'd been during the day and asking how things went. They were more than willing to answer our many (probably tedious) questions and to assist with travel arrangements and museum reservations. They called a doctor for us when one of our party was sick. He soon arrived on his moped and was very attentive. Within half an hour of his departure, room service delivered a beautifully arranged tray of toast, jam and tea for the sick person.

Mille grazie Hotel Villa Fiesole. We look forward to returning.
