We stayed 5 nights here; me, my husband and our two teenage children. The hotel is on a hillside, so wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside - with Florence as the jewel in this crown. The swimming pool is small but in a lovely setting - surrounded by greenery and an ivy-covered hexagonal tower. After a day in town, it was bliss to have a dip then bask in soft sunlight.
Villa Fiesole is smallish, and the better for it. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained, with adequate air con. The plentiful, fresh breakfast is served either indoors or on the terrace - did I mention the views? There is a large lounge with free laptop/internet access, much appreciated by our kids. Transport is easy: the number 7 bus (buy tickets at Reception) takes you down to Florence or up to Fiesole, where we ate most nights.
There were a couple of very minor drawbacks: a surly porter, a pompous barman and (invevitably) mosquitos. All easily overcome: zap the mossies and ignore the macho men. With these 2 exceptions, all the staff were lovely. We had a lovely time, and I very much hope to go back.
