Having stayed at the Pan Pacific Seattle, I expected to have the same great experience I did there at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. It was not quite the same experience as Seattle but it was still good. The front desk personnel were very friendly and always said hello as we walked by the lobby. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Blackcomb gondolas, so if you're there for skiing or snowboarding, it is great location as the gondolas will take you to the lifts to Blackcomb mountain. My husband and I stayed in a studio suite and were very happy with the suite. It had a full kitchen that included a four burner electric stove including oven as well as a dish washwer, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and toaster. It was very convenient having the kitchen as we made several of our meals to reduce some of the costs of our trip. The suite had a murphy bed as well as a pull-out sofa bed. It also had a fireplace with the tv located above the mantle. This was inconvenient as we had to look up to watch the tv. There was also a four-person dining table and a small balcony off the dining area. The bathroom was nice, but the only complaint I had with it was that the water pressure would change and there was high-pitch squeeking noise.

The village was just behind the hotel and we had many pleasant strolls up and down the village to window shop and eat at the various restaurants. We also did some of the activities available at the time such as zip line, atv riding and canoeing. All meeting spots for the activities were in the village except for the canoeing, so the hotel's location was very convenient. Overall, we had a great time and very much enjoyed staying at the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

For $250 a night (worked out to $300 a night with taxes and parking), did not expect hotel to be filled with young people who looked like they belonged to a gang, swearing their way around the lobby and elevators. Noisy at night with people partying on their patios. Couple of pieces of broken glass on our patio when we checked in. Didn't get kind of service we're used to with five star hotels. Asked for late check out to let our son have his nap in the room but refused, not because they needed the room for anyone but because they were too lazy to have housekeeping have to break their routine a bit. Listed as five star hotel but would say it's more a four star. Seems like it was another (cheaper) hotel before, and Pan Pacific bought it out, slapped it's name on it and started charging high room rates. Have stayed at Sundial before and loved it. Will likely go back to there next time.

Wanted to share our experience at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. My family (me, wife and 6 yr old triplets) have vacationed at Whistler before. In the past, we've stayed at the First Tracks Lodge in the Creekside village.

We were delighted with First Tracks and would have stayed there again this year. But ,when we were booking in October, First Tracks rates were about 2-3x the rate at the Pan Pacific. The condo at First Tracks was certainly larger, but we weren't willing to pay that kind of premium for the privilege of shlepping the kids to and from the "Adventure Week" ski school at the Whistler village twice a day.

So given the favorable pricing, we decided to give the Pan Pacific a try. We're very glad we did!

Staying at the Pan Pacific - and taking advantage of their complementary shuttle service - we didn't miss having a rental car (or the $1,000+ weekly rental fee and daily parking fees) once. The Pan Pacific is literally 10-15 steps from the Excalibur lift amd only a few more to the Village Gondola. This kind of location allows you to go home for lunch and 1) save the time and expense of hitting the lunch rush 2) make changes to your hat, midlayer and other equipment. First Tracks was also ski-in, ski-out on the Creekside plaza, but somehow it was alot less convenient if you have kids in ski school. My skiing experience was substanitally more enjoyable and less stressful because of the Pan Pacific location.

The Pan Pacific facilities - ski locker room, heated pool and hot tub were all very good. The room was also well thought out, comfortabl and in good condition.

Plan to go back to the Pan Pacific again next year.

Just returned from a fabulous trip at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. All of the reviews about the proximity to lifts are completely true! The rooms are wonderful with fireplace on at the flick of a switch - super, super comfortable bed that conveniently pops into the wall for more room during the day...fluffy pillows and lots of them, deep tub for soaking and a spotless, clean kitchen with all the amenities. One thing I'd like to add is the absolutely adorable staff - they are the friendliest group and anxious to please...they will drive you around the village (although walking is extremely easy), ask for turndown service which is free and the chocolates are great! It was my husband's 50th birthday and they were so gracious...even ran into some of them on the dance floor and they popped over to ask how his evening was - over and above the normal hotel staff treatment!

We looked out over the mountain and pool area - so beautiful! My only complaint is the overcrowded hot tubs right after skiing but what can one expect? We found that the morning was a great time for a soak as no one was in them at that time...

If you get a chance to visit the Pan Pacific - please go!

I was here for a conference in October 2007, so I wasn't here for the ski season. That said, this hotel is in a great location, walkable to lots of restaurants and things to do.

We had a one bedroom suite that included a pull-out couch in front of the fireplace in the living room. Since there was two of us, it worked out great since the bedroom door provided lots of privacy and had a view of the balcony overlooking the village. The bed was absolutely huge and very comfy with a TV on the opposite wall.

There was a small kitchen, if you needed to cook anything, as well as a dining table for four. The suite reminded me more of a small condo, with a very homey feel. I wouldn't call it spacious, but it was enough room for us. Too bad the US dollar is dropping so fast in value!
