This site is well worth a visit. The fort itself is an important in history. The guided tours let by the park rangers are a great way to hear the story of the fort. The grounds are well maintained and have lots of opportunities for easy walks and nice picnics. Allow for probably 2 hours for a basic visit or... more

This was a great piece of history for the whole family. My boys especially liked the gun demonstration by the person dressed in Union uniform (they switch the uniform each day). If you go on Saturday they also do a cannon demonstration. The views are beautiful! We went at the end of the day and I wish we just had... more

There are lots of reasons to visit this fort. It is of great historical significance, being the last brick built fort, and saw action in the Civil War. The tour guide was GREAT - really enthusiastic & informed. He wore a period uniform & kept everyone's attention, adults and kids. He was also very attentive towards elderly & wheelchair-bound members... more

We stopped a Fort Pulaski on our trip from Ohio to Florida and the stop was well worth it. The fort is in excellent condition (a lot of times it seems there isn't much left of a place that's historical). The tour is a must as you will learn 10x as much as opposed to just walking around. You can... more

We also loved the informative movie, the gun demonstration, and walking around the inside and outside of the fort. Be sure to look for the cannon ball holes/indentations, and for the alligators in the moat! I would suggest bug repellant if you plan to walk around the outside, to keep the "no see ums" away, and good walking shoes! more

If one is interested in history, particularly Civil War buffs, this is a place one must visit. With the grounds been almost completely open for one to explore (with the only exception being a few of the rooms in the fort, i.e. the quartermasters store and officers barracks), one can easily spend a couple hours just meandering around the park... more

We spent 3 hours here and loved every minute of it. We had resarched it before our trip and magnificence of it didnt let us down. The history was facinating and the views spectacular. I especially loved the indentations of the cannon balls in the brick walls. The ground were flawless and the little trail to the John Wesley memorial... more

We watched the video first then walked out to the fort. Alot of ground to cover there. A soldier gave us a riffle demo and a little talk. Lot of history. more

I spent a week in the Savannah/Charleston area and Ft Pulaski was the highlight. The tour was brief and informative. The guide was able to give an enormous amount of interesting information in a short time. It was almost chilling to be in a place where so much history took place. You can almost hear the cannons firing and officers... more
