Features larger than lifesize statues (7 foot each) representing the different branches of the military each dressed in combat gear ready for war in Korean. A worthwhile visit after visiting the Lincoln Memorial. more

This was not my first time in Washington but the Korean Memorial was not there the last time I went. I was looking forward to seeing it and I was not disappointed. It was awesome...the wall just as much as the soldier statues. I don't think the words "Freedom is not Free" ever hit me just they way they did... more

The Korean War Veterans Memorial is very moving. The statues and the wall pictures carved into it are a great reminder of those who fought in the war. The memorial is located near the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorials, so it can get pretty crowded. But most of the people crowd around the statues. Just behind the circular pool is a... more

I went with my class to DC years ago, and we made a stop to the Korean War Memorial. I've been uneasy around statues ever since. Believe me, this is a good thing. When I talk of DC, this is what I talk about first. The soldiers are so lifelike, it's almost to the point of being creepy. This is... more

I did not know what to expect with seeing this memorial but I'm glad I visited this place. The soldiers walking in the "rice paddies" was haunting as was the wall with etchings. And the words "Freedom Is Not Free" brought a tear to my eye. Maybe this sounds corny but I felt a sense of patriotism. more

This monument made me want to cry. It's so amazing. There are life sized soldier statues that are 3D. There are slabs of black granite with carvings of names and the inscription Freedom Is Not Free. How true. more

Make sure you see this memorial day and night. The figures reflect like ghosts off of the wall with all the etchings. Very moving and thought provoking. more

This is one of the memorials it is especially breathtakin to see in the dusk or evening to show off the etchings in the granite wall better. Particularly at night it is almost as if you are in the scene with them. more

Since my grandfather fought in the Korean Conflict, this was on our list of must-dos. It was quiet and out of the way. The statues were incredible, with awesome detail. The granite wall was marvelous. My only complaint was that the grounds were not kept up as I expected them to be; some of the shrubs were dead/dying, and it... more
