This was not my first time in Washington but the Korean Memorial was not there the last time I went. I was looking forward to seeing it and I was not disappointed. The Korean War Veterans Memorial is very moving. The statues and the wall pictures carved into it are a great reminder of those who fought in the war. I did not know what to expect with seeing this memorial but I'm glad I visited this place. The soldiers walking in the "rice paddies" was haunting as was the wall with etchings. And the words "Freedom Is Not Free" brought a tear to my eye. Maybe this sounds corny but I felt a sense of patriotism. more
This monument made me want to cry. It's so amazing. There are life sized soldier statues that are 3D. There are slabs of black granite with carvings of names and the inscription Freedom Is Not Free. How true. more
Make sure you see this memorial day and night. The figures reflect like ghosts off of the wall with all the etchings. Very moving and thought provoking. more
This is one of the memorials it is especially breathtakin to see in the dusk or evening to show off the etchings in the granite wall better. Particularly at night it is almost as if you are in the scene with them. more
