The Washington Monument looks very simple and plain from the outside.... but read about it's history and follow it's path of progress and it takes on a whole new meaning.... I managed to get tickets for the monument... so that means, I go tto travel all the way upto the top----87 floors high!! The view was breathtakingly beautiful... I just... more

We visited in October 2008. I went online prior to leaving NY to order the tickets to avoid the lines and it was the best $1.50 I ever spent. We went for a 10am viewing and got right in line and were up in the monument at 10:05 am. the rangers tell HILARIOUS storys and offer education about the monument.... more

You must go to the top. Unfortunately you can't walk the stairs any longer to see the internal exhibits but at least if you ride the elevator you can see a few. The view from the top is quite beautiful. more

I reserved tickets online for the Washington Monument and was very glad that I did. The free tickets were long gone by the time we got there. All I had to do was pick up the tickets at the will call window and go on my merry way. It was well worth the $1.50 per ticket. The monument itself was... more

I have seen pictures of this monument, but seeing it in person was amazing. We did not go up to the top because the line was too long, but just seeing the monument was amazing. more

We visited on July 21, 2008, and had a great experience. The trick to visiting is to go online and purchase tickets for the monument in advance. Tickets are free, and the online charge is a few dollars, but well worth it to avoid the hassle of the early morning ticket giveaway. If you get them enough ahead of time,... more

On our recent family vacation to DC booked Washington Monument tickets online. The cost for the online service was minimal and kept us from having to wait in line early in the morning. We had ordered the tickets for a 10:00 time and in hindsight I would have either gotten them for earlier or later because my 10am in July... more

I went in October and had been to DC before, but never went up to the top of the monument. We got tickets, saw the WWII memorial while we waited for our time. It is free, so you can't beat that. You get a great view of the White House, Capitol Building, and all the memorials and the Mall. I... more
