The museum was just fantastic. The audio tour from the Lobkowicz himself was very helpful and its really worth it. It is not just a museum but a mini trip to Bohemian history as you see armory, porcelains and even Beethoven's songbooks. The interior of the last stop was just fantastic and the view of most of the rooms was... more
Wow! I was actually getting quite bored of museums towards the end of our trip and was considering not going to the Lobkowicz. Thank God I did. It was absolutely phenomenally done. The audio tour is done by today's Lobkowicz's which added a real personal touch to the tour (and its free!!!). The layout of the whole museum was really... more
While you are in Prague, make time to visit the Lobkowitz Museum, located in the palace complex set on the hill above Prague. We stumbled in after touring the cathedral and palaces - what a great stumble! Not only a museum but a history of Czech royalty and culture. Weaponry, porcelains, historical documents, furnishings and much more. The Music room,... more
After 10 days of visiting the many wonderful museums in Prague, my husband and I decided to "take a chance" on the Lobkowicz Palace even though it was given just a slight mention in only one of our tour books. We're so glad we saw it. The quality and breadth of this family's collections are truly amazing. Everything about this... more
Best day we had in Prague, where every day was wonderful, spent visiting the Lobkowicz Palace on Castle Hill. Got away from the hoardes of tourists and immersed ourelves in the history of this remarkable family who so generously share their rich heritage and holdings, including manuscripts by Beethoven, paintings by masters, etc., all beautifully presented. Would be of interest... more
We are in Prague for 3 days. We spent the first two around Old Town, Jewish Quarter, etc. Today, we went over to the Castle side by taking the metro, and then tram 22 to Pohorelec stop and walked downhill the whole way. We saw the changing of the guard that was interesting, and then looked at the tours available.... more
Such a charming museum. I think the audio tour is one of the best that I've ever heard. The personal stories, the anecdotes, all the touches that make this palace feel more personal to the visitor. You will learn a lot about the Lobkowicz family and their place in Czech as well as European history and culture. Although I'm sure... more
This is by far the best museum we've been in with such a personal touch! Loved the family stories and anecdotes! It certainly gave so much life to the otherwise ordinary exhibit! TIP: Skip the afternoon classical concert. Although the performers are good, it's a bit too pricey for such a simple performance. Save that money for a concert at... more
Good ol' Trip Advisor, coming through yet again. Prague is the final stop of my euro 2008 tour and I only had 3 days to see everything that I could. Trip Advisor rates the Lobkowicz Palace in Prague Castle as the number on attraction so I had to go check it out. Like most other people I would have totatly... more
