i went to Uffizi on a 7 October 2008 (a tuesday). Without a reservation (which will incur an extra fee of 4 euros), i arrived at 8:35am with about 30-40 people in front of me. The queue moved really slow. I managed to get in at around 9.40am. I found the time for the queue was acceptable. Maybe October is... more

We had walked past this gallery on a number of occasions before deciding to visit on a particular day. I think we had been influenced by the length of the queue and the stories of three hours waiting just to get in !! I walked into the office at the far left hand side of the gallery where there were... more

The Uffizi is a must. The view of the river from it's windows is spectacular. I am glad I was able to see centuries worth of magificent art displayed as it should be! Buy the tix in advance! And start this one early! more

We didn't know what day we wanted to vsit the museum so didn't book tickets in advance on line and were worried we wouldn't be able to get in. We spent about 30 minutes waiting in the wrong line (door #3 under the right hand portico), only to be told to go to door #2 under the left hand portico... more

I way way more that dissappointed with this museum....but then again I'm not a real art lover. I found it boring mostly because I could not appreciate the paintings inside. Maybe a guide would have helped? So....If you're like me, you may want to reconsider this museum. The Galleria dell'Accademia and Museo Del Bargello were much more interesting due to... more

We were in Italy for two months last year and found a guide in Florence to tour the City. He was able to get us tickets to Michelangelo and the Uffizi. We did not have to wait in any lines and his cost was about $65.00 US @ hour, the information about the art and Michelangelo was well worth the... more

Follow these two suggestions: 1) go to www.ricksteves.com to download his free 2 hour audio tour. You can save it to your MP3 player or IPOD. It is informative and entertaining, highlighting the most important works at the Uffizi. 2) make reservations at least one month in advance. This way, you avoid standing in long lines, especially during peak season.... more

First of all - BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE, ONLINE! You can find them at the official website, don't pay the scalpers selling the same tickets, for more money! The collection was amazing - beautiful works of art around every corner. Of course the crown jewel is "Venus" and it was even more beautiful in person than we anticipated. Outside, there... more

This is an amazing museum. We were there 4/08, the foreign tourists were not there yet, mostly Italian school children on field trips, not super crowded. Bring your own guide book, or pull out the pages on the Uffizi from the book about Italy you bought and take with you , The guides there are very pricey. Wear comfy shoes... more

The uffizi as with most of Italy could probably look better with a bit of Anglo-American management, but then it wouldn't be Italy. For me it is the world's greatest art gallery, against which all stand and fall. From the Doni Tondo (Michaelangelo's picture of the Holy family) to the world's greatest collections of Botticellis, Raphaels and Titians, this is... more
