Truly a remarkable place. Only sherry and tapas served, but all the more wonderful for that. Bar staff chalk your tab on the wooden bar, everything is completely unchanged from the 50/60s, and utterly authentic. Frequented by an eclectic group of madrilenos, dog roams the bar, hoping for spare chorizo. Don't go in a big group, you would swamp it,... more

la venencia is hidden down a side street a minute's walk from plaza santa ana and you'll never happen across it accidentally but if you're in madrid then you simply MUST seek it out. as you walk in you feel like you're entering a different world - i've no doubt la venencia looked exactly the same in 1953 save a... more
