reserved for 4 for the wine cellar, but not seated there. We expected to have a leisurely meal, perhaps a few hours, we were out in 65 minutes. We did not order the pig, we had the hake, sole, filet BOTIN, and the lamb. they were all mediocre at best. the sole, a delicate fish, was so salty, it was... more

We tried both the pig and the lamb (house specialities) but did not like either dishes. The serving size is LARGE so if you really want to try the pig, share the entree. GARLIC soup with egg is GOOD. But not good enough for me to return. The Lamb was really gross. I thought it would be more like lamb... more

We telephoned in advance to book in the caves, when we arrived they knew nothing of the booking, however the staff did let us wait on a small table behind the bar. We did not wait too long, we ordered the suckling pig, it was a major disappointment, it was mostly bone and gristle, and very expensive. The tables were... more

This place gets a lot of hype and it is touristy, but the hype is well-deserved. The ambiance and the wait staff are first-rate. I admit that I was a bit disappointed in the house specialty, suckling pig, but it was not bad, just not quite up to the hype, in my opinion. All other entrees, salads, desserts, etc were... more

We were at the restaurant Botin at 14th of March 2008. Very nice interiour, kind waiters. The food was avarage... we ve ordered suckling pig and suckling lamb. (house specailty) but it wasn't something to remember.. It wasnt expensive, 21euro (I think) each. The same price you can get it on plaza mayor. (but this is still the oldest restaurant... more

As a student who is studying abroad in Madrid and was led past Botin on a tour our first day, I couldn't help but think: major tourist trap. Regardless, when my family came during the Christmas holiday, I made reservations for their first night in town. We arrived and were warmly received, though I was nervous that they would seat... more

Experiencing a step back in time to dine in the world's oldest restaurant is a fascinating experience. The setting is quaint, along a medieval row of restaurants that line the Plaza Mayor, and the service is impeccable. This is certainly an important part of any visit to Madrid. I could take or leave the food though. I paid more than... more

We had watched "Bizarre Foods" and Botin was then a must for us to visit, a special detour, from France to Madrid. We had read other reviews, some were not happy as the hype had rated this place the best in the world.......rather than the oldest. Going to Botin for us, was for the experience only.... Botin, in two weeks... more

We ate here on an overnight trip to Madrid and really enjoyed the food, but a lot of our experience was for what the place represented - the oldest restaurant in the world. The service was very good and the food plentiful. But, it was a little on the grub side of the world of cuisine. It may be the... more
