This park is a treasure. Most people tend to concentrate on the part of the park nearest the Puerta de Alcala/Plaza de la Independencia. Be sure to spend some time in the opposite (south /eastern) parts of the park. We visited on a Sunday and it was buzzing with people walking dogs, jogging, juggling, dancing, singing in a choir, practicing Tai Chi, sunbathing in bikinis and even 1 or 2 just watching the world go by, like us. This park is amazing.It is so huge one can get lost but thankfully there are maps located throughout the park. Entering from Calle Alcala we walked straight down the park.
