This is an experience not to be missed. Especially when visiting a busy city like Madrid, we always make time to go to the big city park and are seldom disappointed. This is very true in the case of the Retiro. You can take to the beautiful lake with row boats, bike or jog, camp out at a cafe or... more

The Retiro Park is a wonderful Urban park where you can go relax in the sun after walking around all day. You should first explore the park before taking a seat as the park is full of cool things such as a statue of the Fallen Angel and more. I think that the south side of the park was the... more

This park is a treasure. Most people tend to concentrate on the part of the park nearest the Puerta de Alcala/Plaza de la Independencia. Be sure to spend some time in the opposite (south /eastern) parts of the park. Here you'll find things like the monument to the Angel Caido (the fallen angel); just off that is an unusual playground... more

It was our last afternoon in Madrid, and we spent a couple of wonderful hours in this park...It is relaxing, yet lively. We sat by the lagoon and the gorgeous monuments and drank sangria along with manchago cheese. It was delightful. Nice way to cool off... more

We visited the park around midday on Friday 15 September. It was very quiet. There were few people jogging, walking their dogs, having a beer and a dozen or so boats in the lake, but it wasn't buzzing as other reviewers and guide books have stated. I suggest that if you intend to visit the park, do so when the... more

This park is fantastic. We visited on a Sunday and it was buzzing with people walking dogs, jogging, juggling, dancing, singing in a choir, practicing Tai Chi, sunbathing in bikinis and even 1 or 2 just watching the world go by, like us. The landscaped gardens, boating lake, statues and topiary really make this a special place to be in... more

This park is amazing. It is so huge one can get lost but thankfully there are maps located throughout the park. Entering from Calle Alcala we walked straight down the park. The lake near the Alfonso XII's mausoleum is a refreshing sight on a hot day. You can rent paddle boats and go out onto the lake-it does get crowded. It... more
