I got the impression from the guidebooks that this was a lot more impressive than it was. There are so many wonderful things to see in Barcelona that this really warrants only a quick stop, in my opinion, unless you are really crazy about medieval art. more

The art is ok, as noted by a previous reviewer, doesn't compare to the Thyssen or Prado, imho. The building itself is pretty, I thought. I approached it both from above and below, and it's pretty to look at. If you're approaching from above (the Park), MNAC peeks through the trees. The MNAC was strongly recommended in the guide books. Most of the presentation seemed to be oriented to the Catalan history, which I appreciate is a source of local pride. Ok, im not into visting museums much, but its the actual BUILDING itself that is amazing! Seriously, its as impressive as the Taj Mahal and looks like a palace! You cant miss the thing really!
