A old train that runs from Palma to Soller. From Soller down to the Port Soller you transfer to a tram. There are different schedules posted on their website - they are for the train & the tram - 2 distinct rides! Soller is a cute town, that has retained a lot of it's ancient charm. The Port is even... more

Lovely train ride. It rained all day when we went, but still enjoyed it. After an hour you arrive in Soller (by the way, it's pronounced 'soljerr' with a softish 'j'). Go down the steps of the station in Soller and that's where you get the tram to the port. Have a little look around the port, then go to... more

I would like to recommend this trip to all. I just did it last Saturday August 9th 2008. We spent the afternoon on this small beach in Puerto de Soller and took the train back to Palma at 06:30 pm. more

We did this trip on July 10th 2008 and I can reccommend it to experience a different bit of Mallorca. We caught the train up there which is just as described in other reviews. The square in Soller is full of restaurants all serving tapas on their menus which was great as I'd been looking forward to some all trip.... more

As per all the other reviews this is a "must do" day out for anyone visiting Mallorca. It's a different type of day out to going on a preserved railway in England - there are more 'ordinary' people and less hardened 'railway enthusiasts' so I didn't feel left out in any way. As others have pointed out there are only... more

Don't miss this day out if you are in Palma. The train ride costs 14 Euros return and the station is on Place de Espana. The train takes about 1 hour to get to Sollar and its a fabulous ride up through the mountains, through the tunnels and down the other side. You stop before you decend on the other... more

This railway was originally built by the people of Sóller to transport themselves and their produce to the markets of Palma. When the railway was built in 1912 the only other ways to do that journey was by cart, over the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range or by ship around the coast. Over the years road transport became more efficient... more

A great trip out to Soller on an old fashioned train, takes about an hour and a half to get there and theres a fantastic photo stop on the way! Be wary of the train times coming back, it's either 14.00 or 18.30 so theres a long wait if you miss the 14.00. You can take the tram down to... more

Great fun train journey from Palma to Soller on old style train (€14 return on the tourist route), with wooden carriages. Very, very shaky though and left us with stiff necks the next day! The train starts in Placa Espanya in Palma and winds through the town (along the road at the start!) into the spectacular mountains for about a... more

This was a nice day out. Take the train to town (forgot the name) Then take the tram to the port. All very nice. The trip from Palma to the port takes about 1.5 hrs. Time it well and have lunch there. Becareful of the cesta time the trains don't run. If I did it again I think I would... more
